Tips For Golfing Beginners

Most golfers will tell you, their passion for the game started off as an afternoon (or morning for some) past time, and gradually turned into a real involvement as they get hooked onto it.

Learning how to play golf is not difficult, and going through the initial steps is actually quite fun and rewarding. There are some tips, which will help you, start on the right foot and turn into a REAL golfer.

Bear in mind you do not need the shiniest, most expensive set of golf clubs. As a beginner, you will probably not appreciate the subtleties of professional golf equipment. It is not worth spending thousands of dollars on the latest technology and golf club models (regardless of what the sales person at the shop tells you!).

Start with a cheaper set of clubs, you can even consider a used set if you can get your hands on them. A good golf set will have a putter, two woods and five irons. The irons are usually odd numbers like 3, 5, 7 and 9, plus a wedge.

If you want to experience different club types without spending large amount of money on them, you can always rent a set from the golf course. In most cases, you will probably start playing your first golf rounds with your more experienced friends, ask them if you can borrow some clubs from them.

You should get yourself prepared by going for some lessons. Golf coaches are definitely better option compared to your more experienced friends, when it comes to learning the proper way of playing golf. But if you are just starting golf for the fun of the game, a friend may be a good tutor for you, initially.

The concern of having friends teaching you how to golf is that they may not necessary have the required skills to explain all the complexities of the movements, swings and strategies of the game to you. A good experienced coach can teach you all these complex issues in plain English.

You can and should sign up for courses at most golf courses. It will be a good investment, especially so if you have a competitive nature and have doubting friends who are laughing at your golfing skills.

Lesson costs varies, so do your research first. You can also consider joining one that has group lessons, which will save you some money.

Once you understand the basics of the game, it is time to make most out of golf and enjoy yourself. Remember, have fun! You can be ambitious and determine, these are great aspect when developing your game, but do not let these take away the enjoyment levels of golf!
